A human possesses one mind, but the single mind possesses dual nature which is a Conscious and subconscious mind. The subconscious mind has been a very mysterious topic of discussion as very little is known and there is a lot to explore. But till now, we have figured out that the power of the subconscious mind can change our lives, it’s a miracle-working power which can turn our dreams into reality.

There would be no sickness which cannot be cured and there will be no problem which cannot be solved if we can learn to tame this elephant.

Conscious Mind: In simple terms Let’s call it everything that’s inside our awareness. It comprises 10% of the total capacity of the human brain.

Subconscious Mind: The part of the mind that notices and remembers information when you are not actively trying to do so, and influences your behaviour, but you do not realize it. The Subconscious mind represents 90 per cent of the total capacity of the human brain.

Whatever information you have received in your entire life via reading, touching, seeing, smelling, tasting, felt has been stored in your subconscious mind. It regulates your breathing, and heartbeats, maintains blood pressure, regulates body temperature etc. The subconscious stores all the data of our existence before we were  born

Relation between Conscious and Sub Conscious Mind:

The conscious mind is like an engineer who is supervising the construction of a spacecraft (Who knows the design/Mechanism etc.) and the subconscious mind is like those workers, who are building the spacecraft following the orders of the Engineer, without knowing whether they are doing it right or all wrong.

If we learn to use it, how the Subconscious Mind can change our life:

Within your subconscious depths lies the infinite wisdom, infinite power and infinite supply of all that is necessary. Within your subconscious mind, you will find answers to your every problem and cause for every effect. The subconscious mind can help us cure any disease. It can help us in changing our dream into reality. Basically, it can help us achieve things in Life, which we think we are incapable of achieving.

Method to use Subconscious Mind:

To learn to use the subconscious, first, we must understand how it processes the information:

  1. Subconscious work on only one principle, that is the ‘Law of belief’. The Law of belief is to believe in the way your mind works. You think with your conscious mind and your subconscious mind accepts whatever your conscious mind is thinking. Once the subconscious mind accepts the idea, it begins to execute it.
  2. If you can somehow make your subconscious mind believe in something you want, you will succeed in everything you wish for. Your subconscious mind learns by repetition and not by logic.
  3. The subconscious mind makes no difference between what’s real and what’s imagined, it works on the law of attraction and whatever you think, it will apply that in reality.
  4. Our subconscious mind works illogically. It does not try to extract any logic from what you learned. It has no capacity to judge either real or virtual.
  5. The subconscious mind thinks only in the present and does not know anything about the past or future.

Now that, we know how it processes information, the only way we can make use of the subconscious mind to get things in life we always wanted is by making it accept an idea.  The subconscious mind accepts an idea when it’s repetitive, to make it believe in something you want, the best way is to visualize it over and over.

Visualization:

  1. Visualize it to the level, when everything seems real in your mind. It’s very important to believe in what you visualise. Not just think but accept it as truth and reality
  2. For example, if you want your boss to realize your importance and give credit to you. Then just start visualizing the entire scene. Like you entered the office, and suddenly your boss called you, and as you entered the conference room, people started cheering, clapping and calling your name.
  3. Don’t apply logic like how this is going to happen and what you must have done for such appreciation. Just don’t apply logic. As I told you earlier, subconsciously does not understand the logic. It only knows how to accept an idea.

My experience with the Power of Subconscious:

Before learning and researching this topic, I was not aware of its power, but once I understood it, all those moments, which were long forgotten kept coming back to me, making me realize the effect of my subconscious mind, and how it helped me shape my life and carrier.

So, I had an aunt, she was a very nice lady and was in perfect health. Once some priest visited her home, she welcomed him and asked him about her future and her family’s future. The priest studied my aunt’s hand for a while (Palmistry is very common in India) and told her she is going to die at the age of 48 in some fatal accident. He asked her to never travel by car. She was then 32. She started worrying about it, as no doctor or no other person could heal or do something for the thing which didn’t happen at all. She started taking the stress and eventually died, at the age of 42. She didn’t die in any kind of accident but died of a heart attack, due to stress. Her conscious mind made the subconscious accept the idea of death and eventually, her subconscious started working on her body so that she could be dead by the time she is 48.

Here is another example from my own life. I did my MBA and got a job in a good company. After my convocation, I went back to my home, as there were still two months left for the date of my joining. I was very excited and stressed at the same time about the job. I was scared about possibilities like-What if, I don’t  perform well, what if my plane crashes, what If I couldn’t  understand my work at all etc

Meanwhile, a strange thing happened to me, my head started to ache continuously. I am calling it strange because what triggered that headache was the movement of my hair. Can you believe it? Whenever a single hair got pulled, my head started to ache like hell. I was not able to sleep or comb my hair. I was so tense about this situation, I even consulted doctors, some said it was supra octal neuralgia (I don’t know yet what it was, but I took an injection in my eyebrows) searched google, and changed 20 pillows. I used to sleep on a particular pillow, on my doctor’s advice.

One person who knew what it was, kept saying it, but I didn’t believe a word. She said it’s stress, you are just too stressed about your job.  I felt how insensitive my mother is, as she couldn’t understand that the pain of for real, it was not mental. In the middle of those headache episodes, my joining came and I flew to Mumbai.  I attended my first class and came to the hotel room to sleep. I forgot to take out my special pillow, as I slept for the first time in months, and I didn’t feel any pain in my head since that day in Hotel Room.

In both the examples above, one thing is common-that is self-invented fear. Your conscious mind created some abnormal, meaningless fear and your subconscious accepted it, without any logic. Our subconscious made our body cells react in a way, that, the mental pain became the physical pain. Dr Bruce Lipton in his book’ The Biology of Belief’ talked about how our genes get tempered with the kind of environment we create. Sometimes these changes lead to diseases.

The placebo effect is a very good example of how the subconscious mind plays with you all the time. Many doctors treat their patients by giving them Sugar pills instead of actual drugs without letting them know because all the diseases originate in the mind, nothing appears on the body unless there is mental thought corresponding to it. And people have actually healed with such medical practices.

Stop living your life on auto-pilot, take charge of your thoughts and see for yourself the change it brings in your life. Prepare to be amazed!

Your beliefs become your thoughts,

Your thoughts become your words,

Your words become your actions,

Your actions become your habits,

Your habits become your values,

Your values become your destiny.
